Cuniculture
Operating under the brand Kamyu Central, Ntakye supplies rabbit meat to local markets while exploring exports across East Africa. We complement this by harvesting 6,000 liters of nitrogen-rich rabbit urine monthly—a figure set to double. We sell this organic fertilizer to other growers and utilize the excess to nourish our own coffee and banana fields, creating a highly efficient, zero-waste agricultural cycle.
Cattle
Documented in ancient Egyptian art and descending from the Ethiopian Sanga of Eurasia, Ankole cattle have roamed Uganda and Rwanda since the Middle Ages. Introduced by northern pastoralists 500–700 years ago, this resilient Sanga breed is central to Ntakye’s future. Our four-year trial confirmed that indigenous Ankole cows possess superior disease resistance and feed efficiency compared to exotic breeds. Building on this success, we are scaling our project to a herd of 50 cattle by 2027.
